I've always wondered.

You see a lot of cliche stories about a man and a woman from two different ethnicity's meeting, falling in love, and having a kid, and the story follows that kid's hardships because one of his parents, almost always the mom, was some kind of lower-caste barbarian trash.

Why do the parents just never have a kid, knowing that their society will look down upon it so fiercely? Is the concept of parenthood worth the risk that the kid will go through hell all his life?

TBH, I find all this Basitin politics stuff pretty boring. When 95% of a character's personality is based on being lawful-insane, you don't have a lot of variety in your cast.

The same thing could be said about any socially disadvantaged group. Why do minority couples have kids, knowing they'll suffer through racism? Why do poor people raise families, when they won't be able to provide the best for them?

Love and children are just gonna happen, and you do the best you can. That's the way it is.

Ok let me guess

someone else finds out, kills her, he walks in, Keith's sees his farther over his mother's body, assumes the worst and kills his farther

...I'm not seeing what that scenario would have to do with Keith being able to 'resist orders' and having no compulsion?
It's more likely this is a racially discriminative jab at Keidrans by the Basitins.

I liked my idea better, They tried to kill keiths father, mother failed.

Keith came home and finished the job or his father committed suicide.

Basitins are in a predisposition to follow orders given. Using the secret forbidden love is pretty cliche'.

And the whole " keith is a special snowflake " kinda kills it for me.

Keith was the everyman, non gary stu.

If you feel like he's clamping your balls so hard that it no longer feels moist, then you should personally take it up to him. My only role is to provide food for thought to his plate because I prefer not to SoulKat/Leoian his ass with my own visions of his comic, I'm aware that the technical gap between me and him is pretty far, and I don't know if he has the energy to fill in that gap as much as possible.

in order to prevent mass masogyny. Women cannot control themselves during these periods and would most likely do anything for sexual reprieve.

Basitin women aren't Keidran women. Keith seems to have been completely unfamiliar with the idea of females going into heat when he encountered it in Keidran, and he doesn't extrapolate that into applying to human women that we see (implying he realized he was merely ignorant), so no. Basitin females don't go into heat. That's not the reason why.

Seems like he left out exactly HOW the poor communication killed, though. I mean, it can be assumed, but still. After all the good art and pages filled with emotion, not showing us Keith's father's reaction to finding his mother's body seems like a copout.

But then Tom's had a death in the family semi-recently, he might not have been comfortable dwelling on it, maybe. Iunno. Just seems strange.

Still doesn't matter for the purposes of this discussion. Flora doesn't know Trace the Genocidal Madman. Flora only knows Trace the Amenesiac Sweetheart. There's no reason for her to factor in the Genocidal Madman when she's making her decisions about him.

The others, she's met them all as exactly what they are. Also, from her perspective, most of them are probably perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. Natani is a ninja assassin, if she's alive she can probably get out on her own. (Or would be able to if she weren't foolishly hung up on Keith.) Keith is in his homeland, Flora doesn't have any reason to worry about him because she doesn't really know what assholes the Basitin are to their own kind. However, the last times she saw Trace, he was either unconscious and helpless, or out of control and looking for her.

It's perfectly sensible for her to be worried about him the most.
