T'was merely a statement that fan-service, however cheap, seems to be the thing that keeps bringing the fans back. Can't be the story, it's been dragging on and on without any remnants of its original direction. Can't be the character OF the characters, they lost their appeal long ago, or simply haven't suffered anything that seems to have any IMPACT on them (if they have he does a terrible job of showing it). Some have died, yes, but we've known these characters how much? The General was tossed in and shown for approximately 20 strips, if that, and little is known about him other than he's important and despicable. Keith's one-eyed friend is merely known as that, and the King made a whole 4-5 page cameo before seemingly being put on a bus on fire. Trace has this miniature psychotic episode that had real potential, but was wasted primarily on tossing corpses around as meat-shields before that little tantrum was ended in a handful of strips by the one-in-a-million shot. But, I'm willing to give benefit of a doubt and wait to see if any of this has any more impact than other past events.
