Taurid Tales, 1998

First up is one I know several of you have been waiting for--another folio from Oscar Marcus I stumbled onto at AC. It's more comic-like than his other pinup collections and came staplebound.

It's one of the last things I'm aware of him releasing before disappearing.

This advert says there was a colour version, though the text seems to indicate it was substantially shorter than the black & white version. Also quite expensive--$24 over $10.

I don't have it, nor do I have a lead on a copy.

Marda, Queen Of Wolves, 1997

I have no idea who "D. Thomas" is--the art style is not familiar, no first name is ever given, and the only other name in the packet is "Size Games Guy". I know it was sold through Ed Zolna, but that's not very helpful.

A bit disappointing, though I must admit, Marda's got a nice rack.

Hardbodies!, 1995

A series of body-builder-centric one-offs. Some of the art is a little scary, but it balances out.

I'm a fan of muscle, so I'm biased.

Ms. Livingstone is still around, but her involvement in the furry side of things is rather...small.

The Larna Portfolio, 1994

A vanity portfolio for a character who's since largely gone silent. I post this one not because of the character--she was one of the more notable super-top-heavy vixens, and showed up in Dutch's Pencil Test with Misty The Mouse before her creator switched gears--but because a few of the artists here are long forgotten.

Scott Norman. This is Larna's creator/player, so the artwork's forgiveable (though not nearly awful).

Ashtoreth Haas.

Jimmy Chin. He focuses more on costuming now, and I don't think he's put out art in years.

John Nunemacher. I'm unsure if he was going by Cooner here.

Ashtoreth again.

Mark Stanley. Unknown to me.

Dusty Rhodes. Don't know him either.

Eric W. Schwartz.

John Boulton (Saasta). He got much better.

Andrew Thompson. The third unknown.

"Wolf" Kidd. His style now is considerably different.

Nutcrackers!, 1999

I adore Zephery Huges' work. I know he's still active, but his work isn't easy to come by.

Vampiric Albino Squirrels in Vinyl, 1997

An experiment of sorts, this "riff digest" would evolve into the short-lived Weird Tails series under Jarlidium Press. It was printed as a mid-size digest for a few bucks, and has some...art in it. It's not what I would consider the best, but some of it's cute.

Cover by "Tygger" Graf, who all evidence seems to indicate bowed out of furry work quite some time ago.

Manawolf. Still active, I think.

Zephery Hughes. He's prolific in this series.

David Buttenshaw (Timbawulf). This is -very- early work for him.

Robert Holiday. The name sounds familiar, but I'm not sure.

Flinthoof. Fairly early for him too.

James Birdsall. Probably the worst piece of art I own. I think he was an editor at the time or something, because the name never comes up again.

As near as I know, Unigraphics became Jarlidium later.

And one more, Joe Rosales. I think Joe's still active, but I don't know where he's putting anything. (I could ask Megan Giles--she knows him well--but I really don't think she likes me much.)

The second volume of blood-lusting aboreal palefaces, and much better than the first, though it's far more heavily dominated by two artists.

This was back when Jarlidium Press still handled Dela The Hooda and The Dallas Brawl "zap-zine" was in action. I have a few of Karno's installments from the Dallas Brawl, if I can find them, and boy if I find anyone else's stuff, like Groat, Barr, Vick, and the rest...

I don't remember Phil Bolton, so I don't know much about Natural Selections.

All of these are way out of print now.

I have some reason to believe LIC Wear existed at some point in time. It doesn't now, to be sure.

And I'm done! Much of the portfolio stash I have is fairly common (e.g. Max Blackrabbit or Associated Student Bodies) or not exactly broadly appealing (like The Misty The Mouse Folio). Folios have pretty well been replaced by CDs, and while I've got probably 1200 prints behind me I'm not in a good position to share those.

Jarlidium did in fact publish Winged Beasts with Udders and Jello Bunnies under the Weird Tails brand. Rubber Skunks on Sticks was unreleased.

Until I looked at it today whilee scanning, I never noticed the "free sketch" letter in Nutcrackers!. I sincerely doubt its any good.

Bleeding heck, I forgot to post this one. Freddy Anderssen (aka Zapcat) was a rather prolific friend to the east coast set (ye olde Caer Carnivore) for some time before he just sort of drifted away. Whether it was to be a professional or whatever, he draws The Pawn now and posts a few generally SFW pieces to Elfwood.

Not that I'm aware of. The portfolio ends there--even the written bit on page 2 stops when she gets back to the pack--and I don't know of a second one. I have _no_ idea who the artist is, though, so it's hard to say.
