Within 48 hours they go from knowing basically nothing about the aliens to having a successful virus to take down their shields. That and some of the action sequences, like the tunnel where they survive. If you look back on it, it's just kind of bad. But damn if it isn't greatly entertaining, the cast played their parts well, there were some good one-liners, and isn't a wonderful tradition to watch every July 4th.

While not really a movie (unless you count "Saga of a Star World" as a movie), I absolutely love the original BSG. I love the remake even more, but the cheesy effects, the shamelessly-velcro uniforms, the vocoded cylon voices and ridiculousness of some of the plots just make it enjoyable.

Super obscure bonus: Island City. It's only a movie in the sense that the original pilot was super long. They had hoped to launch it into a series but it never got off the ground. Its so...bad...but I lurve it.
