This here's your games board. Think /tg/ meets /v/ - discussion on tabletop games, board games, and videogames (no matter the system) goes here.

The usual rules apply, and for the love of God, please try to keep the fanboyism to the bare minimum.

This... wow. Man, if someone, somewhere, had a betting pool going that Duke Nukem Forever would see release, he's gonna be laughing like a motherfucker.

I'm intensely curious to see how this goes, especially since Borderlands was a good game. And it proves that Gearbox can toss a good amount of humour into shooting the everloving crap out of things.

Now to wait for next year.

This actually sounds like it could be fun. And inspirational in some cases. Anyone planning to keep a tally of Badass Points?

Making this thread for two reasons:

A.) Discussion of the game
B.) To let you know DailyMotion embeds have now been enabled, as the embed to the left - IGN's review of Other M - will prove.

Video IDs for DailyMotion videos are the characters that start off the URL slug that comes after the "video" portion of the URL. To wit, the URL of this video is:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xelhid_metroid-other-m-wii-review_videogames

Therefore, the video ID is "xelhid", and that's what you'd put into the Embed field.

Question: How much does Other M delve into Samus's history with the Chozo?
>> No. 2846 ID: 548b0b
>>2845

Zero. Which I thought was the most disappointing Missed Moment of Awesome since Reboot got canceled. The only hint we have of Samus's past before the GF was when she encounters Ridley and briefly turns into a crying little girl (and that's not an insult; it was for narrative purposes).

I know there's a thread for Super Street fighter IV here somewhere, but I'm making a new thread just for the updated Arcade version

This [ic all but confirms Yun and Yuri for SF3 will be in the game
>> No. 2849 ID: 5c9cf8
You mean Yun and Yang. But yeah, read about that on EventHubs today; cool to see them back in.

There was for the Choas Chosen being all male, since there ARE female Chosen, as they are the well, chosen of the gods and why the hell would Tzeentch, a cloud of color, care about gender?
>> No. 2821 ID: e15538
>>2819
How many female Chosen have been in the Warhammer canon? 1? 2? Sure, it's happened, but they've been pretty rare occurrences, and it's just easier to stick with all butch-looking guys than making a butch-looking female Chosen.
>> No. 2828 ID: 5effe2
more like thousands, as Choas really doesn't/shouldn't care but GW isn't very well known for gender balancing their games/fluff
>> No. 2829 ID: e15538
>>2828
You're going to need to cite some examples there about the thousands of female Chosen. And, BTW, Tzeentch is not a cloud of color.

>>Selling content after something hits the shelf is difficult, even for great games: Mass Effect 2 is one of the best I've ever played, but I don't see myself picking up the Kasumi DLC. I played ME2, and I loved it; now I'm done.

God, I can't be the only one that's tired of this smug prick managing to figure out a way to bloviate about his "One playthrough of an RPG and then I'm done forever" approach to games, can I?

He just naturally seems to assume that his preference for playing the games, where after he finishes he may as well uninstall it and shred the disk, is the standard for all gamers everywhere. For weeks every time I gave in to curiosity and checked the newspost, he'd find some way to work in whining about DLC for Dragon Age after he'd already plaaaaaaayed it, and he wasn't going to play it agaaaaaaaain just to see the new stuff.

Three races, each with two origins, and then a third one for the mages, each with its own unique starting path, not to mention the myriad different paths the story could take depending on your moral choices and how you developed your companions. And this fucker played it ONCE and declared himself done with it forever.

Now he's pulling the same shit where three times a week it's "But I already plaaaayed Mass Effect 2!" The very idea that other people might not have the same approach that he does to replaying games, or that maybe that people who don't want replay value could just not buy the DLC while others do, never seems to enter his bald bumpy head. And so the game industry is in some sort of waffling quagmire of indecision, clearly, because how could it ever be building a game dynamic that doesn't cater to the Most Important Gamer Ever, Jerry Holkins? It's almost like those industry idiots are doing things for gamers that like things other than multiplayer FPSes.

tl;dr version: SHUT THE FUCK UP, TYCHO!

If anyone here has bad taste in video games, it'd probably be me, with myself actually enjoying a good game of Madden now and then, my interest in the Halo franchise, and my currently top game for the 360 being Forza Motorsport 3.

As for the topic of used games, I'm rather conflicted as well. Sometimes new games drop well enough in price that I can buy an old game new for well off the initial price. However, sometimes games stay at $59.00 for years, which seems quite strange to me, or never get additional print runs. In those cases, I can't blame anyone for buying used.

But you see, Tycho doesn't have these problems, therefore they are not important and unworthy of consideration. He either gets his games preordered or on the first day of release (with his large amounts of disposable income), or gets them for free in the mail as a review copy.

It's not a problem for him, clearly it shouldn't be a problem for anyone else in the world. And if you're not doing it like Tycho, clearly you're doing it wrong.

And this is why we simply ignore them, enjoy the games play even if no one else does, and go about our merry, pointless lives. Because fuck them. Opinions are like assholes; everyone's got them and some people just can't keep them to themselves.

And I'm aware that I forgot a "we" in there. The point remains, though.

Scottish pirate Ork?

Sounds good to me.

Gorgutz is all but confirmed for being in this game - the guys who are making Dark Millenium wanted to use him as the leader of the Orkz in the sector for their game, Relic told them they had other plans for him very soon..

Yes, Martellus is the techmarine I heard, should you have to fight him he ends up getting a tank.

I don't know why you wouldn't use Avitus, I thought he was amazing, lol.
>> No. 2780 ID: e15538
>>2779
It's my second playthrough, the first I went full corruption and I had to fight Avitus. I just figured he'd always be the traitor, so on my second playthrough(going for pure) I've been keeping him weak. Oops. At least if Martellus shows up in a tank, this time I'll have Thule for help.

Also, spoiler text all up in this thread.
>> No. 2781 ID: e14a00
>>2780

I went for purity on my first playthrough, so I don't know how the game would decide who you have to kill on a corrupt playthrough. i'm assuming they would just reverse it and it would be the purest character.
>> No. 2782 ID: e15538
>>2781
No, I think it's still the most corrupt. I always kept Avitus in the squad unless it was a "Will Corrupt if not taken" option, gave him corrupting wargear, etc.

Here's a thread dedicated to, IMHO, one of the best new franchises this generation.

Word of God entertained, but did not confirm, the idea of a female protagonist for the third installment. I think that'd be a nice change of flow, myself.

The multiplayer loses a lot of drama when you remember it's just the bad guys playing pretend with each other. I was kind of hoping for cooperative story missions.
