I has rules!

1. Don't start threads.
2. You don't whine about what I post, end of discussion.
3. I'm the only one allowed to troll.
4. Feel free to reply, comment, etc. with text posts in the threads.
5. Please don't, however, assume that any thread is a request for posting more content unless it specifically says so. (If I start a reaction image thread, I might be wanting to reference it later. Having other images would make it harder to find the ones I want.)
6. You'll probably get banned once or twice. Don't feel bad about it. It's my way of getting the final word being awesome.
7. Heretical activity will be reported to the nearest Inquisitorial representative.
8. Please pick a name/tripcode and stick to it. (More suggestion than rule, but it gets you more leeway than being anonymous.)
9. [This rule was traded to Sechs for two rules to be named later.]

It's actually pretty fun and watching the seals clap and play with the heads of your fallen enemies is hilarious.

It's not a hard game, and it is annoying when you pretty much get stuck in stunlock, but I didn't have any problems beating the game. IIRC, my score was around 500k and my rank was Eco-Bearrorist.

Now, I'm fully aware that every nation likes to make fun of other nations and create various insulting names for their citizens (frogs, limeys, krauts, etc, etc, etc). This is all fine and good and to be expected.

However, I keep hearing one particular insult for Americans that particularly rankles me. Septics.

It bothers me not because of the connotations it comes with, or the fact that it's an insult at all.

No, what bothers me is that it's such a large stretch from its root word as to make it insulting to the intelligence of those who decide to use it.

Lets take a quick glance at it. Septic. In order to get to this word, you must first transmute the original insult, "yankee" to "yank" which is just fine, we've all heard the two used interchangeably for decades, so that's not the problem. The problem comes when you go from "yank" to "tank". "Tank" by itself is not an insult as one can imagine, so someone got the bright idea of having to add another word to it in order for it to become an insult, thus the creation of "septic tank". Well, okay, that works, it's a little bit of a stretch (and a bit esoteric considering how typical citizenry insults go), but alright. Once you get to "septic tank" though, you're pushing it a little as you had to not only change the root word (which was already an insult) to a non-insult word and then add yet another word to get the insult back. Now, to just shorten that up and say "septic", you've failed.

Now, you might ask "But Ragnarok, you gorgeous lolarbear of awesome with sexual prowess that would make the ancient Greek Gods envious, why is shortening it so bad?"

And I would reply, with a knowing smile, "In order to get the word 'septic', you must first alter the root word, which is normally quite fine, but you change it into a non insulting word, which ruins the entire point of changing the word to make a new insult, then you must add another word to it in order to get it to be insulting once more, and then you go and remove the word that links your new insult to the original word, thus removing the part of the insult that's supposed to show whom it's being directed at. To put it simply, if you must explain your insult to your target, it is hardly an insult at all! Not to mention, there is a plethora of insults for Americans already that are much better than this."

Understood?

I've never understood the insult either. Apparently being American means I have this thing for taking a shower on a regular basis, wearing deodorant, and washing my hands when I get shit on them.

Isn't that kinda what everyone in western society does?

If France still counts as part of western society, then apparently not.

I've never been somewhere where an entire city smelled like piss before... until I went to Paris...
>> No. 372 ID: c2d37c
>>370

France is an oddity as they are technically a western nation, but they've never culturally gotten along with the rest. My headache is kinda blocking my long-term memory, but there was something distinct about how France developed in relation to other western powers, pre-expansion over the Atlantic. I think they were the first to unify as a nation state.

It depends upon the year, species (seal, sea lion, walrus, harbor seal, etc, etc, etc)breed and geographic location that they're from.

Personally, I've found that the ones on the western part of North America seem to be the tastiest and require the least amount of seasoning, whereas, surprisingly, those found in eastern Russia, just a little ways away, require a bit of salt.

>LOL THE PS3 HAS NOT HAD A SINGLE GOOD GAME, AND WILL BE THOUGHT OF ON THE SAME LEVEL AS THE VIRTUAL BOY! FLEA MARKETS WILL SELL IT FOR UNDER 5 DOLLARS IN JUST A FEW YEARS.

Yeah, they fucked up, but not THAT badly. The trolling comes in when you exaggerate how insanely bad the system is, and how the PS3 will single-handedly kill Sony.

Now, Virtual Boy levels of badness would be the PSP Go, a more expensive version of the PSP that won't work with your old games, has a smaller screen, and finally gives Sony complete control over what games you can buy. That's the kind of decision making that will eventually kill a company.

I concur.

However, I have to say that one of the big reasons I'm posting these images is that I simply find them funny. The reaction they somehow still elicit from some people is what makes it all the more amusing.

The following is a fairly accurate depiction of my day so far.

>Wake up
>Move cat off of me
>Get out of bed
>Look outside, note that there appears to be several inches of snow on allotment streets, still snowing
>Take shower
>Get dressed
>Look outside, situation hasn't improved
>Go on innerwebs
>Check skewl email and webpage
>No sign of class cancellation
>BS on innerwebs for an hour and a half
>Get ready to go to class
>Check roads once more, then check e-mail and web page

See, here in Texas, if it even gets cloudy when it's near freezing, schools will cancel. Then again, we got nearly 14 inches of snow two weeks ago, so I wouldn't be surprised if some people freaked out...
