Why do people call me and ask me how to do their job?

I wasn't trained in how to do their job. Hell, I wasn't trained in how to do my job, I got two hours of halfassed instruction from someone else who was given four hours of halfassed instruction and I had to figure the rest of the shit out on my own. I'm doing good to do my job, so DON'T ASK ME HOW TO DO YOURS.

Morons.

Would it be rude of me to ask what you do for a living?(random curiousity)

My technical title is "Office Manager".

My actual title is "Clerical Secretary".

I work in an insurance appraisal office. This boils down to answering the phones, inputting data, putting files together, and typing in billing information.

I am also apparently meant to be an expert not only on insurance, but all the various permutations of the insurance industry and all associated functions thereof. WTF mate.

It's no offense meant to you (or anyone else) but i never understood the appeal of office jobs. It always struck me as something dull nd repetitive.

Might just be me though.

Do you at least enjoy what you do?

My particular one isn't so bad. The pay kinda sucks, and the work's dull, but I have a great deal of autonomy. I don't have people looking over my shoulder, monitoring my keystrokes, or keeping watch of my computer usage to see if I'm staying on the schedule that Corporate decided was proper (and if I need to go to the bathroom more than twice in the space of eight hours then that's my problem). I can sit and play flash games and yammer at my friends and listen to music for most of the day so long as I get everything done and answer the phone promptly. I can sneak out early most days and it's no big deal if I get there a bit late.

It's dull, but it's stable and has a fair amount of freedom to go with it.

Oh FUCK no. If I started honestly enjoying printing folder labels and taking calls from idiots in body shops, I'd know it was time to call the nice young men in their clean white coats.
